Born and raised in Hawaii, Girl Scouts of Colorado Board Member Jennifer Casani sees a parallel between Hawaiian lei and the Girl Scout journey. A lei represents a life’s journey with each bloom representing an experience. Girl Scouts teaches girls through events and experiences so each girl can string together her own beautiful life story.
No matter our gender or characteristics, we are all touched by women in our lives. The value that Girl Scouts brings to our communities is empowering and strengthening girls - giving them courage, confidence and character. Because our girls and volunteers can handle life’s adversities, our communities are stronger.
As a philanthropic organization, we need to move away from focusing on cookie revenue. Just writing a check for cookies doesn't underwrite the program to help socio-economically challenged girls participate. Daisy's Circle gifts go further because its direct impact on the council strengthens its ability to reach girls statewide.
